Today in class we had our 6th grade spelling bee. As mentioned earlier, students were not required to study, however all students were given a study guide of the words that I would be testing them on for the spelling bee. There were two winners from each class selected. Please talk to your student about how he/she did. I was very proud of some of the words that they were able to spell correctly! Most of my classes were spelling almost the whole class period. They did a fantastic job!

The eight winners (two from each class period) will now go on to the schoolwide spelling bee. Please see the flyer attached. That means they are now up against other 6th grade students as well as 7th grade and 8th grade. The date for the schoolwide spelling bee is set for Thursday, November 15, 2012. There will also be a chilli cook-off, etc. The chilli cook-off begins at 6:00 and the spelling bee is at 6:45. There will also be lots of Hayes student work up on display.  Additionally, a silent auction will be held throughout the evening so that you can bid on some fantastic prizes! All students who come will receive a free book! I hope to see everyone there!

No school tomorrow due to election day! No homework!
