Today we worked on identifying foreshadowing in a story.

Students in 1st hour worked with both foreshadowing and flashback in common fairy tales, such as Cinderella.

Students in 2nd, 5th & 7th hour finished using the story The Landlady by Roald Dahl. They worked with their partner to write a letter to a friend or relative as if they were the main character, Billy, and identified five of the clues (foreshadowing) to support the idea that something strange was happening. It was a great story to keep the students engaged!

5th & 7th hour did not get to go to the library today so I will be sending them down tomorrow in small groups to get new books.

I also met with students today regarding compacting with me. 7th hour I did not get to really sit down with the students but I plan on doing this tomorrow with them. The students know whether they are compacting or not and are beginning to think about their independent project that they would like to work on. It was great to see them so excited about exploring a topic of their own interest! Several students are wanting to research a mystery of the universe. I can’t wait to see their projects and what they come up with! Students were also given the option of NOT compacting if they did not want to. This means that they would be a part of the regular teacher direct-instruction class.

No homework.
