Today in class we read an article and practiced writing an objective summary. Students are struggling with giving too much information and including quotes in a summary, so we are working on just giving the necessary information and not including bias.

Homework:

  • Read 20-30 minutes to prepare for the January essay due on 1/31.

Today in class the students reviewed summarizing and answered pages in their workbooks. We will go over the answers tomorrow in class for a grade. Many students also finished MAP testing (or tried to finish), however we had quite a few network issues today so many will have to finish up tomorrow.

Homework:

  • Workbook pages 69-81 need to be completed as homework if they were not completed in class. These are due at the start of class tomorrow!
  • Read 20-30 minutes to prepare for the essay due on 1/31.
  • Bring library books for return/renewal tomorrow!

Today in class the students had MAP testing. I am SO proud of them for taking their time and doing their best on the test. I was shocked by some of their new scores and how much they have grown since the fall! Please talk to your student about their score at home and continue to encourage their independent reading. 🙂

Homework:

  • Read 20-30 minutes to prepare for the January essay due on 1/31 on Google Classroom.
  • Friday is our library day. Please remind students to bring their library books for renewal/return.

Today in class the students had a debate on whether schools should require students to wear ID tracking chips. This led to a lot of interesting debate on the topic and students pulled information from the passages we read in class last week and this week.

Due to the snow day on Friday, January 6 we had to reschedule MAP testing. We are scheduled to MAP test in all classes tomorrow.

Homework:

  • Read 20-30 minutes to prepare for the book essay due on 1/31.
  • Rest up for MAP testing tomorrow.
  • Library day is on Friday: Bring in library books to check-in/renew.
